Every great invention starts with a problem.
Ours started with a door slamming accident and a very close call with our three-year-old.
In 2011, Marc and Coralie Ward's son Oscar jammed his fingers in a door at the family home in St Ives, Cornwall. Like any parent would, Marc went looking for a doorstop that worked. He couldn't find one. Every option on the market held the door from one side only, and could be nudged loose by a curious toddler in seconds.
So 'Dadpreneur' Marc set about inventing one himself. After 18 months and 14 prototypes, the Jamm Doorstop was born. With a patented curved trough design that holds a door snug and fully jammed in either direction. All it takes is a slide under the front edge of an open door. Slide and set.
From the start, Marc was determined to create a UK-designed and manufactured product that could protect little fingers worldwide reliably. Today, Jamm is sold online at Amazon, launched in Screwfix in the UK, and distributed across North America, Hong Kong, Belgium, Holland, Luxembourg, France, Germany, Spain and Italy.
“We're really proud of the awards and commendations we've won, and the great feedback from customers. Most of all though, we're proud that we're helping to protect little fingers in more and more households...because that's why we make them.”
